About

Ben Chang Yi-Hsuan is a fine artist with a specialization in realistic oils. Currently, Chang is pursuing his Master of Fine Arts (MFA) at the Pennsylvannia Academy of Fine Arts (PAFA) in Philadelphia. His 21st century studies of the human form and still life are framed in the kind of light reminiscent of the theatre, and brings to mind works of the Baroque tradition yet with a contemporary edge.

Born in Taiwan, Chang has always loved Western art, particularly the High Renaissance masters like Titian and Vermeer. Conversant in sculpture, printmaking, and photography, he refined his technique and composition at Tainan University of Technology, Taiwan, a seven-year arts program which solidified Chang’s foundation in the Fine Arts. In 2013, Chang was an exchange student at the University Of The Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas. There, he immersed himself in the ethnically-diverse Texan art scene.
